VENUE: Alpha Business Centre, Walthamstow, E17             COST: £30.00

The role of a parent support advisor was devised to support children and families where there are early signs that they could benefit from additional help. By acknowledging the importance of working in partnership with parents to improve children's lives the first response will be to involve parents in identifying appropriate support for the child and family. This could include a parenting programme, mentoring for the parent or child or one to one tuition for the child.

The service provided will need to consider the most effective means of enabling Parent School Advisers to have sufficient leverage over, and ensure delivery of, the additional services children and their families might need.

This course will help you understand and bring clarity to the role of a Parent Support Advisor.
Look at effective practice issues and quality assurance in service delivery.
Explore the resources needed to support parents and how to obtain them.
Delegates will also be able to enhance their skills of engaging parents, and develop methods of assessing families’ needs.
